Brian Jorgensen finished his first race for Husqvarna, and on a 500cc four-stroke, with a major success, bringing his Husky TC 450 home ninth overall during round four of the International Italian Championships at Castiglione del Lago.

The Danish pro, who turns 27 this Saturday, improved every time he went out on the track. Qualifying saw Jorgensen post eleventh position in his group, 2.6seconds behind former world champ Fred Bolley. During Sunday morning?s timed warm-up session, as the fastest 40 riders from both qualifying sessions came together, he positioned himself in eighth. Jorgensen then used his opening 250/500 race to build up confidence, refusing to take any chances.

"I decided to play it safe", said Denmark?s number one motocrosser, "The Pirelli tyres are still new to me, and we had stock suspension mounted on my Husky. Also this has been my first race of the season. Considering the circumstances, I was really pleased to finish inside the top ten."

But Jorgensen had an even better result in stock. Much to the surprise of all experts, the superfinal saw him claim third place for the newly formed Edo Racing team.

"There was not much time between the open class moto and the superfinal," he explained, "The 125 guys get a real break, but we have less than one hour to get going again. And don?t forget, these races last 40 minutes. Anyway, things went really smoothly out there. At stages I had a nice battle going on with Josh Coppins and Andrea Bartolini. I had fun, good speed and when the chequered flag came out I was on the podium! Not bad against such heavy competition."

On the Monday and Tuesday after the race, Jorgensen was out testing factory suspension. Next Sunday, he?s doing another race in Italy, before heading north for the opening round of the world championships in Holland.
