MacKenzie keeps Yamaha top of 125.

In the first Open Class race, Yamaha UK's rider Justin Morris, on the YZ 250, took the hole shot and lead the pack for 5 laps until he came under pressure from Carl Nunn, the battle went on and Justin put in his best performance so far this year making good use of the engine work carried out during the previous week. Jason Higgs meanwhile was coming through the top ten making his way to 6th when he had a big get-off over on of the jumps. 'Rubber man ' Higgs was soon up and back on his machine and finished in 8th place but was furious at having thrown away a possible top five finish.

'Rubber man ' Higgs was soon up and back on his machine and finished in 8th place but was furious at having thrown away a possible top five finish. Justin was eventually passed by Cooper, Crockard and Noble near the end of the moto, he is still lacking bike fitness with a niggling back injury,

It was that same injury that forced Justin out of the remainder of the day, after taking a good start he jolted his back which caused him a lot of pain. He is now to have a MRI scan to find the cause of his pain.

Jason Higgs certainly showed his mark in the last mixed race, The Maxxis Cup, he was second out of the gate and powered into in second and soon was into the lead as early leader Flockhart boiled his rear brake. Not to waste his chances Jason extended his lead away from the pack and it was only after 7 laps that World number 3 Gordon Crockard started to close and battle with Higgs for the lead. It took Crockard two full laps to find a way around Jason who didn't give in easily retaking the lead several times in a an action packed race. Totally
exhausted Jason was unlucky to finish 5th but was very happy with his speed.

Battling against the much larger machinery, Billy once again gated well and passed Sword on the first downhill, he definitely had the measure of him until 4 laps from the end again when Sword moved ahead, he was then fortunate enough to have Flockhart crash into the ropes after his brake failed. Unluckily for Billy, Flockhart only lost enough time for Sword to pass which meant losing another 2 points to him. Billy finished 8th whilst Sword was 6th.

Team manager Steve Dixon said " I saw a great performance by all in the team as the 250 riders showed they and the bikes can run at the top, and it's only a matter of time till the win comes our way. Billy rode with outstanding maturity to keep Yamaha UK's hopes of retaining the 125 championship well on track. Jason is just a fairy tale as he just keeps on improving, he is rapidly turning out to be the surprise of the year, Ashley Kane from Fox Racing Europe must be proud of his part in the rise of Higgs as he was instrumental in getting Jason back into top class racing after several years in retirement. I feel that Justin is finally starting to put things together despite his back problems and injury, I am very happy that he has got back his famous starts, it makes the races so much easier when you start up front."

Next race is the 7th round of the World Championship in Bulgaria on the 23rd June this Sunday.
