Two of the ACU Academy's brightest Motocross stars dominated their races at the latest round of the BYMX National Championships over the weekend.

The meeting was held at the Doncaster Motopark near Finningly, South Yorkshire. With temperatures reaching into the 30's and, despite the best efforts of the organisers with clouds of dust following the riders around the circuit, the conditions were testing to say the least.

In the 85cc Big Wheel Senior class, it was 16-year-old Craig Cook (pictured) who was the man of the meeting. With a win on Saturday and two awesome performances on Sunday to secure victory over his main rival Tommy Searle, Craig proved himself to be in a class of his own.

In the 125 Class, Cooks Academy 'team-mate' and Team Green Kawasaki rider Dorren Coutts was the rider to beat.

Coutts, whose cousin Daniel is a top rider with the Road Race Academy, secured a clear win on Saturday and a first and second place on Sunday to take overall victory over the weekend.

However, after the race Coutts was disappointed not to have scored a clean sheet of victories.

"I caught the start gate on the first race on Sunday and that dropped me back to 9th place at the end of the first lap!" explained Dorren. "That left me with so much work to do. But, to get back to 2nd was pleasing and at least I got to practice my overtaking."

Academy chief Motocross coach Rob Herring was also pleased with the boy's efforts. Rob had taken the Academy riders to the Doncaster Motopark a couple of weeks prior to the event and was happy to see the young riders in such dominant form.

The next round of the BYMX is over the weekend of 5th and 6th July at Commerton Farm in Leuchars in Scotland.
