IRTA has received valid applications from no less than 47 teams, requesting entries for a total of 91 riders, in next year's inaugural Moto2 World Championship.

Moto2 will feature 600cc four-stroke machines, powered by identical Honda engines but featuring different chassis designs. For 2010, existing 250cc two-stroke motorcycles will also be allowed to race.

However, all of the applicants, with the exception of one team with two riders, have requested to participate with Moto2 machines.

It is believed that the applications include requests by all of the satellite MotoGP teams.

The regular selection Committee composed of representatives of FIM, Dorna and IRTA will meet at the forthcoming Catalan Grand Prix to establish the provisional Moto2-250cc entry list for 2010.
