Tetsuta Nagashima will miss the remainder of the Moto2 World Championship due to injuries sustained in a practice clash with Azlan Shah at the British Grand Prix.

The 22-year-old rookie was airlifted to University Hospital Coventry where he was confirmed as suffering a dislocated right shoulder, a small fracture in his right hip bone and a fracture to his right tibia and fibula. It later transpired that he also had an injury to his right elbow.

Nagashima has since undergone surgery and is now beginning the long process of rehabilitation. The Teluru Team JiR Webike rider is not expected to return this season and an ASEAN replacement is now being sought to take over the only TSR on the grid for the remaining 2014 rounds.

"First of all we want to send our very best wishes to Tetsu," said tea principal Gianluca Montiron. "We understand well the difficulties of being a rider in today's modern motorcycle racing and so he must be stronger and to take experience from this situation.

"When something happens like this in racing even young riders need to realise that they shouldn't take inappropriate actions that can cause a dangerous situation as it effects both their and others' safety. Again, we all send our thoughts to Tetsu for a speedy recovery."
