Moto2: Kalex on track for new Triumph era

Kalex has kicked off its track preparations for the new Triumph Moto2 era, by testing an early 2019 prototype at Valencia.

The German company - Moto2 riders' champions for the past five seasons in a row, but facing a growing challenge from KTM - had its first run with the 765cc engine during a private test, alongside some grand prix teams.

Swiss rider Jesko Raffin, who has three seasons of Kalex Moto2 experience, was at the controls of the new bike, which can be seen and heard in the videos posted by OffBikes below:

 

 

 

Julian Simon has been helping Triumph with development of the race-specification 765cc engine, the first batch of which are due to be handed over in June 2018.

Moto2, the only grand prix class with a single engine supply, has used 600cc Honda engines since its formation in 2010.
