Moto2: Navarro joins Speed Up for 2019
Hot on the heels of confirmation that Sam Lowes will return to Gresini for 2019, the team's current Moto2 rider Jorge Navarro has been announced as moving to Speed Up.
The Spaniard, a double winner in Moto3 but yet to grace the podium after a year and a half in Moto2, has signed a two-year deal.
“I’m very happy to join Speed Up," Navarro said. "I think it’s a great team and its results prove it. Next year will be my third season in the Moto2 World Championship, which I will certainly face with more experience and a winning project that is already motivating me. Now, I’m determined to finish the season in the best way and start the hard work with my new team to get great results!”
“We are excited to welcome Jorge Navarro in Speed Up because we believe he is a young rider with high potential," added team manager Luca Boscoscuro. "In these two seasons we will work together to make him express all his talent. Jorge is a professional rider who works with commitment and that’s what you need to achieve excellent results”.
Speed Up will lose star rider Fabio Quartararo to the SIC Yamaha MotoGP team next season, while current team-mate Danny Kent also looks unlikely to continue at the squad.
