Moto2: Danny Kent loses Speed Up seat?
The Speed Up team will replace Danny Kent with Edgar Pons from the forthcoming Moto2 round in Thailand, according to a report on Marca.com.
Kent, the 2015 Moto3 champion, has scored just eight points so far this season compared with 100 points - including a race win and second place - by team-mate Fabio Quartararo.
“I’m sorry for today’s race, and I’m very sorry for my team once again because we deserve better," Kent said after falling at Aragon on Sunday. "We started pretty well, recovering three positions, but after a few laps something changed and I no longer had the feeling I had before. I tried to push to not lose the group in front of me but I lost control of the bike."
Quartararo will move to MotoGP next season with the new Petronas Sepang Yamaha team, while Kent faces an uncertain future having now struggled on Speed Up, Kalex, Suter and Tech3 machinery in Moto2 and could return to the Moto3 class.
Rumours of Pons replacing Kent emerged at Monday's Aragon Moto2 test, but so far there has been no official comment from the team.
