Official: Lowes signs one-year extension with Elf Marc VDS for 2022 Moto2
Sam Lowes and Elf Marc VDS have officially extended their partnership until the end of 2022 in Moto2.
Lowes, who sits fourth in the championship - 124 points off series leader Remy Gardner is the second rider confirmed within the team, after it was announced that Tony Arbolino would replace Augusto Fernandez alongside the Brit.
The news comes after a disappointing Aragon Moto2 in which Lowes crashed out of second place.
But with that said, it’s still been a strong season for Lowes who has enjoyed more success with the Marc Van Der Straten owned team than any other in his Moto2 career.
Since joining Marc VDS at the beginning of last season, Lowes has five wins and five other podiums.
Speaking about the contract renewal, Lowes added: "I’m very happy to confirm this renewal with the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team. I want to thank Marc van der Straten for believing in me.
"He gave me an opportunity in 2020 and he’s now giving me this chance to stay where I love to be.
"It has been a great adventure together already and I feel I’ve improved my performances being part of this project. There is a great atmosphere with my crew, and I still feel like I’m improving all the time.
"I know the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team is doing everything to make me stronger and I feel proud to be staying in this great team and I’m confident we can enjoy more success in the future.
"My goal is to fight for the world championship, and I believe remaining with the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team gives me the best chance of achieving that."
