Moto3: Surgery for Jonas Folger
Jonas Folger underwent surgery on Monday after fracturing his ankle in a huge highside early in Sunday's San Marino Moto3 race.
The Mapfre Aspar star, who qualified on pole and was battling for the lead at the time of his fall, was carried from the circuit on a stretcher and later travelled to Barcelona, where a 3D CAT scan revealed a fracture.
The German was kept in hospital overnight before undergoing a further assessment on Monday, then surgery in the evening, where the bone was 'fixed' with a titanium clip.
The operation, which took around an hour and a quarter, went according to plan and Folger expects to be discharged on Tuesday.
Whilst his ankle will have to remain immobilised for the next week, Folger will immediately begin physio on the injuries to his left hip, knee and shoulder with the aim of taking part in next weekend's Aragon round.
Folger's second non-score of the year means he has slipped to fifth in the 2013 standings.
