Moto3: Kent's KTM rebranded as Husqvarna

Danny Kent may have been named at Red Bull KTM Ajo on Wednesday's provisional 2014 Moto3 entry list, but the Briton's team has now been rebranded as a new Husqvarna entry.

Kent and Niklas Ajo have been announced at 'Red Bull Husqvarna Factory Racing'. However Husqvarna is owned by KTM and in reality only the name and livery is likely to change. The KTM and Husqvarna teams will both be run by Aki Ajo.

"Running Husqvarna in the Moto3 World Championship will bring considerable interest to both the category and the brand," said Stefan Pierer, KTM AG CEO. "With its history of 110 years the Husqvarna brand is highly known throughout the world of racing. The Moto3 stage will give a further boost to grow Husqvarna stronger than ever. We're looking forward to see great competition next year."

2012 race winner Kent is returning to Moto3, and the Ajo team, after a tough season in Moto2.

"Danny Kent will be our official factory rider, with Niklas Ajo our official support rider," said Pit Beirer, head of Husqvarna Motorsport. "Both [are] hugely talented young racers, we are looking forward to the start of Husqvarna's new journey into Grand Prix Road Racing."

Jack Miller and Karel Hanika will thus remain under the Red Bull KTM banner.

Dual branding of KTM's Moto3 machinery mirrors a previous tactic by the Piaggio Group for its Aprilia, Gilera and Derbi brands in the former two-stroke grand prix classes.

While having clear marketing benefits, there is a risk of diluting the constructors' championship points. KTM have a decent margin of safety, having won every race this season to finish the year with twice as many points as the next best constructor (Kalex KTM), although Honda is expected to respond with a more potent Moto3 entry for 2014.
