Moto3: Race Direction issues qualifying statement
MotoGP Race Director Mike Webb issued the following statement after the Moto3 Qualifying session at Catalunya:
"During the Moto 3 qualifying session today, we again experienced the problem of riders going slowly on the racing line, to the extent that it was very difficult for any rider to make a fast lap in safety. Race Direction informed 30 riders that they may face penalties for obstructing other riders on the racing line.
"A Race Direction hearing was held, where evidence was heard from riders and teams regarding the actions of various riders. Following this evidence the decision of Race Direction is that penalties will not be issued in this case, in order to move forward on more effective ways to solve this problem in the Moto3 class.
"A meeting will be held at the next race with Race Direction and the Moto3 riders and teams to define the solutions that will be adopted to control this problem."
