Moto3: Fernandez completes Red Bull KTM Ajo line-up
Raul Fernandez joins Red Bull KTM Ajo in the Moto3 world championship next season to complete its rider line-up alongside Kaito Toba.
After catching the eye in the Red Bull Rookies’ Cup along with his 2018 CEV Moto3 Junior world title win, Fernandez made the full-time move up to Moto3 this year with the Angel Nieto squad and currently sits 19th in the riders’ championship ahead of the final round in Valencia.
Fernandez makes the move back to the Red Bull-supported fold with Ajo for 2020 and is naturally relishing the opportunity.
“I am very happy to be part of the Red Bull KTM Ajo team for next season,” Fernandez said. “When I was in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup I looked up to the team, because I think that getting a ride here is the dream for all the children who have come through that series.
“I want to thank all the team members, KTM, Red Bull and, above all, Aki Ajo. I think the team and I have the same goals for 2020: we want to fight to win. I'm looking forward to starting to work and show my potential, I will do my best and give my all to achieve strong results.”
“We are very happy to have Raul in our team for next year,” Aki Ajo, team manager, added. “We've watched him and followed his progress in motorsport since he was in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. Also, we have already worked with his family in the past, specifically with his brother, in the FIM CEV.
“Everyone who has seen Raul's development knows that he is one of the most promising young talents at this time and he proved his ability by winning the FIM Moto3 Junior World Championship in 2018. We are ready to fight together for the top positions in 2020.”
