UPDATE: The FIM Appeal Stewards announced on Sunday morning, after warm-up, that the appeal by Honda Team Asia has been rejected. Therefore, Yuki Kunii is disqualified from this afternoon's Moto3 race.

The FIM MotoGP Stewards have banned Yuki Kunii from taking part in Sunday's Misano Moto3 race for causing a scary accident in FP3.

Kunii was hit from behind by Alberto Surra at Turn 11, the fastest corner on the track, causing the Italian to fall and bring out the red flags while undergoing medical treatment in the gravel trap.

Examination of Kunii's ECU data later confirmed that he was deliberately riding slowly, on the racing line, at the time of the incident.

Honda Team Asia have appealed the decision, which is why Kunii was permitted to participate in Q1. The appeal hearing is scheduled to take place later today (Saturday).

Surra, who rides for the Rivacold Snipers Team, was one of three riders to miss qualifying due to accidents on Saturday morning but, having fortunately escaped serious injury, could be passed fit for the race.
