Guevara, Garcia ready for all-out Moto3 title attack
GASGAS Aspar Team riders Izan Guevara and Sergio Garcia believe they are ready to fight for the 2022 Moto3 title ahead of this weekend’s season opener in Qatar.
Like in 2021, the Moto3 world championship could and probably will be a very intense affair as several riders could be seen as title favourites.
However, two riders who will most certainly feel that way before a competitive wheel of racing has been turned are teammates Guevara and Garcia.
The latter was already a title contender last season until a kidney injury derailed his efforts, so expecting another title challenge goes without saying for the young Spaniard.
"I really want to start a new season and I face this first race of the year with enthusiasm and with the desire to be in the front positions," said Garcia.
"These days after the Portimao test I have rested, I have focused on myself and I have worked to arrive in Qatar as prepared as possible."
While Garcia held back from making any title admissions, Guevara on the other hand has made his intentions very clear.
A race winner during his rookie season (Circuit of the Americas) and one of the more in-form riders to end 2021, Guevara continued that impressive level of performance in pre-season testing as he finished the recent three day Portimao test in third place.
Guevara added: "I feel that I am very prepared for the Qatar race, with incredibly good feelings after the Portimao test.
"I feel strong for this start of the season, in which my goal will be to fight for the title, without stopping thinking about going race by race and achieving regularity that would allow us to reach the end of the season with options."
