2024 Aragon MotoGP - Friday Practice Results

The second practice session at the 2024 MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix kicks off today at 15:00 local time.

Unsure exactly what has happened to him, but Alex Marquez is already heading back to the pits on the back of a scooter.

Practice is underway now, and the riders are heading out on track with some reports of rain closing in.

Practice is set to begin at 15:00 local time, as Aleix Espargaro and Francesco Bagnaia look to recover from very poor showings this morning. Espargaro was slowest of all, and Bagnaia finished the morning down in 21st.

Welcome back to Aragon for coverage of Practice for this weekend's Aragon MotoGP. Marc Marquez was fastest this morning, 0.483 seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.

Chequered flag out now, and Marc Marquez ends the morning fastest by almost half-a-second over Jorge Martin. Aleix Epsargaro and Pecco Bagnaia both had terrible sessions, with Espararo last of all, and Bagnaia only one position better in 21st.

Bastianini somewhat salvages Ducati's morning and moves up to ninth. Bagnaia still languishing in 20th, though.

We're approaching the final five minutes of FP1 now, and both factory Ducatis are still down the order in 19th and 20th, and Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro is dead last.

Marquez extends his advantage at the top from 0.389 to 0.483, still over Martin.

Fabio Di Giannantonio moves up to fourth, as he returns from his dislocatd shoulder.

Joan Mir hops up to ninth on the tyres he started the session with.

Martin was on another personal best lap but he's run on at turn 12. No harm done but his lap's gone.

Martin moves up to second, just under 0.4s off Marquez, who is still in the pits.

Piero Taramasso reporting to Simon Crafar on the international TV feed that the new surface is providing quite low grip levels and that tyre wear seems to be low, too.

Jorge Martin now back on track on a fresh soft front tyre. Currently the best-placed 2024 Ducati is that of Franco Morbidelli in 10th, Martin in 13th, Bagnaia 12th, and Enea Bastianini down in 20th.

Most riders in the pits now, as Pedro Acosta moves up to second, but still half-a-second off Marquez.
