2025 Qatar MotoGP: Sprint - LIVE!

Live text coverage of the 2025 MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix sprint

Saturday at the 2025 MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix will see qualifying and sprint action for the fourth round of the season.

The championship has been reset coming into Saturday at the Qatar Grand Prix, with Alex Marquez taking over the lead of the standings at the previous Americas GP by a single point.

Marc Marquez's crash out of the lead of the grand prix at COTA has wiped out his championship advantage in what has so far been a dominant campaign for the factory Ducati rider.

After a tense qualifying session, Marc Marquez snatched pole to maintain his 100% qualifying record in 2025 with a new lap record.

Alex Marquez will start second, while Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo got his first front in a qualifying session since the 2022 Dutch GP.

Pecco Bagnaia crashed late on in Q2, leaving himself down in 11th on the grid on a weekend where practice form suggested his race pace was a little bit better than Marc Marquez's.

Reigning world champion Jorge Martin was an impressive 14th in his first qualifying of the year, the Aprilia rider digging deep to shadow his team-mate Marco Bezzecchi.

The sprint at 6pm BST.

13:53

Rins goes up to second, Bezzecchi improves but remains third.

13:51

Four minutes to go and everyone is back out on track. Unsurprisingly, Trackhouse has sent Fernandez out behind Ogura.

13:49

Raul Fernandez felt like he'd found something on Friday, but currently he's 0.792s off his rookie team-mate down in eighth.

13:49

Ogura's lap was impressive. He's got 0.153s over Martin, who in turn is 0.174s clear of Bezzecchi.

13:48

Chantra has been having a tough weekend so far, and Q1 didn't get off to the best start as he left pitlane missing a knee slider.

Martin had a big scare at Turn 1 just a moment ago as he almost ran into the back of Jack Miller.

13:46

Martin actually deposed team-mate Bezzecchi from a Q2 spot with that lap. Long way to go, but that was impressive.

13:46

Jorge Martin goes second with a 1m51.655s. Wow!

13:45

Decent advantage the top two have to third-placed Alex Rins, who is 0.241s adrift of a Q2 spot at this early stage.

13:44

First laps on the board, Ogura leads Binder with a 1m51.502s.

13:41

The best lap of the weekend so far is a 1m50.8s set by Morbidelli in Practice, though that was in the cooler evening conditions.
