Marc Marquez improves again with a 1m 30.587s to move 0.513s clear of Marini.
Marc Marquez improves again with a 1m 30.587s to move 0.513s clear of Marini.
Both Marquez brothers improve: Marc goes fastest with the first 1m 30s lap of the week, while Alex climbs to third behind Marini.
As if to prove that point, Alex Marquez, fastest at Sepang on the GP24, is now 5th and directly behind brother Marc.
Marc Marquez is up to 4th place on only his 4th lap.
There are some big decisions for the factory Ducati team to make about the GP25's engine at this test, do they risk an upgrade or stick with the proven Gp24?
After half-an-hour the only riders yet to have been out are Johann Zarco (LCR Honda), Somkiat Chantra (LCR Honda) and Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Aprilia) who is attempting a return after last week's hand and foot injuries at Sepang.
Meanwhile, Luca Marini lowers the best lap time to a 1m 31.100s, he's now 0.307s ahead of Acosta.
Marc Marquez, Enea Bastianini and Maverick Vinales are now on track.
Marc Marquez and home hero Somkiat Chantra are among those yet to start testing.
It's an early KTM one-two with Pedro Acosta setting a '31.4s to move to the top ahead of team-mate Brad Binder.
Alex Rins is the fourth and final Yamaha rider to head out on track.
15mins gone and it's now Brad Binder (KTM) on top from Franco Morbidelli. Morbidelli is the only VR46 rider on track this week with team-mate Fabio di Giannantonio recovering from a fractured collarbone at Sepang.
Fabio Quartararo and Joan Mir, who impressed for Yamaha and Honda respectively at Sepang, head out to start testing.
Now it's Luca Marini on top for HRC, but remember Honda is the only factory with recent data from Buriram, courtesy of a private January test with Aleix Espargaro and Takaaki Nakagami.
Bezzecchi has lowered the fastest time so far to a 1m 31.929s during his opening run. Miller is second.
It's safe to say that tyres were a talking point at Sepang, but the tyres on offer for the Buriram test are the same as used in last October's Grand Prix and will also be used in the upcoming Thai season opener.
8 riders have now left the pits: Bezzecchi, Bagnaia, Marini, Miller, Binder, Ogura, Oliveira and Morbidelli.
Speaking of Bezzecchi, here is some info from Aprilia on their testing plans - remember team-mate and reigning champion Jorge Martin is absent due to injuries at Sepang last week:
Buriram Test – Day 1
• "More work will be done on some of the elements tested at Sepang, which need to be verified on a track with different characteristics, both in terms of layout and the different rear tyre carcass used here and at some other tracks.
• "Based on the data analysis from Sepang, additional electronic material will be tested in these two days.
• "With Bezzecchi, the focus is on fine-tuning and development while keeping an eye on race performance. With Savadori, the development program will proceed even more intensively."
The green lights are on at Buriram and the two-test is underway.
Aprilia's Marco Bezzecchi is straight out on track, with Ducati's Francesco Bagnaia not far behind.
A reminder of the official lap records...
Best lap: Francesco Bagnaia Ducati 1m 28.700s (2024)
Fastest race lap: Marco Bezzecchi Ducati 1m 30.896s (2023)
It's approaching 10am in Thailand and the start of the final 2025 MotoGP pre-season test at Buriram.
Our man on the ground, Derry Munikartono from Crash.net Indonesia, says the temperature is 'cool' compared to Jakarta.
It's still pushing 27 degrees already, but that's well below the temperatures of the only previous Buriram pre-season test, held in sweltering heat in March of 2018 (as a preview to that year's inaugural Thai Grand Prix).
