The truth about Ducati’s secret talks to sign Fermin Aldeguer
Have Ducati already signed a pre-agreement to welcome Fermin Aldeguer to MotoGP in 2025?
Ducati’s top bosses have denied that they have already agreed to sign Fermin Aldeguer.
But, MotoGP’s top manufacturer has admitted holding talks with the Moto2 star to bring him into the premier class.
Last month, Spanish publication El Periodico reported that Aldeguer had visited the Ducati headquarters to sign a contract which guarantees him a MotoGP bike in 2025.
“Ducati doesn’t want any surprises, Ducati doesn’t want any uncertainties in the immediate future,” the report claimed.
But now Ducati bosses have revealed their side of the story.
“Fermin Aldeguer is a guy who is very fast,” Davide Tardozzi said.
“He showed his potential at the end of last year. And he is very young.
“Everybody is thinking and trying to make a deal with him.
“We are discussing it. We are at a good point. But nothing is done yet.
“We’ll see what will be his choice.”
Gigi Dall’Igna added: “We didn’t sign a contract with him.
“For sure, Aldeguer is one of the riders of the future.
“For us, it’s an interesting rider…”
Aldeguer is still just 18 years old. Last year, he finished third in Moto2 (Pedro Acosta won the title and has stepped into MotoGP this year).
Aldeguer’s prodigious abilities saw him strongly linked to the MotoGP vacancies at Repsol Honda and VR46 at the end of 2023.
But he missed out on those, and will instead ride for Speed Up Racing in Moto2 for another year.
