Pedrosa: No answer to Marquez and Lorenzo

Dani Pedrosa had no excuses as the Repsol Honda rider finished out of the podium places at Silverstone following his victory at Brno in the Czech Republic.

Pedrosa crossed the line in fourth place behind Valentino Rossi and admitted afterwards he simply didn't have the pace to match team-mate Marc Marquez and runner-up Jorge Lorenzo in the British MotoGP.

The Spanish star, who still holds second place overall in the championship by 10 points from Rossi, said: "Basically I was fighting with [Andrea] Dovizioso and Rossi from the middle of the race and I didn't have the rhythm to be with Marc and Jorge today.

"My rhythm was more similar to Valentino and Dovi did a very good race also. I was fifth for maybe the last six or seven laps and then in the last two laps I tried to improve my pace but I couldn't really manage to pass Dovizioso; in the last lap I could make a good overtake to him.

"Rossi was a little bit away but I could push well and get close to him to the very last moment but unfortunately before the last straight I made a very small mistake and I couldn't get a good drive to make the pass," he added.

"I tried and he ran wide a little bit but I couldn't make the pass in the last third."

Grip issues were a key factor in the race but Pedrosa was loathe to blame tyre degradation for his fourth place finish.

"All week I was struggling with grip and I think everybody was struggling with the same problem," he said.

"In the race Jorge made a good step and he could manage to do a good race today. The Yamaha and Ducati was quite well in the fast places and I was riding a little better in the tight corners.

"[It's] always a little bit better when it's warmer and the performance was a little bit better. I tried my best and unfortunately I couldn't make the pass to Rossi but I'm more concerned about doing consistent races than to win one week and then the next to not do so well.

"It's not always easy to find the best over all the weekends. Sometimes it's hard to get a good pace."
