Saturday morning practice at the Malaysian MotoGP has been halted by a fiery accident for Pol Espargaro.
Scott Redding tried to warn Espargaro about a possible problem with his Tech 3 Yamaha shortly before the young Spaniard was launched from his M1, when the rear suddenly kicked out at the apex of turn one at Sepang.
Espargaro was sent somersaulting before being carried away on a stretcher with a possible left leg injury. Other marshals used fire extinguishers to put out flames from his damaged machine.
The reigning Moto2 champion had also fallen earlier in the session. Once the track has been cleaned, FP3 will restart with two minutes left to run.
Espargaro is currently locked in a close fight for sixth in the world championship with older brother Aleix and team-mate Bradley Smith.
