Lorenzo disappointed, but Rossi 'unbelievable'
Jorge Lorenzo says he at least expected to challenge for the podium after the Movistar Yamaha rider crossed the line in fifth place in the Argentina MotoGP.
Lorenzo struggled to make the extra-hard rear tyre work at the Terms de Rio Hondo circuit in the race and lauded team-mate Valentino Rossi's race-winning performance, describing the nine-time world champion as being in 'unbelievable shape.'
"Honestly, I am very disappointed. I didn't expect to finish in fifth position. I expected to fight at least for the podium," admitted Lorenzo.
"I was not able to ride as good as Valentino with the [extra] hard rear tyre, maybe we needed a softer one to feel better. I didn't feel good and I wasn't able to ride as I wanted.
"Anyway, we keep getting points and let's see in Jerez if we can be faster," he added.
"Valentino's race was unbelievable, he was able to go faster than anyone else with the harder tyre, he is in an unbelievable shape."
Lorenzo is currently fifth in the championship standings with 37 points, one point ahead of Marc Marquez and 29 behind championship leader Rossi.
