Gobert confirmed for Donington.

As rumoured earlier in the week, Kenny Roberts has secured the services of superbike rider Anthony Gobert for the British Grand Prix, and possibly beyond.

Talks between the Australian and Team Roberts were finally concluded yesterday [Thursday], and both parties have expressed their excitement about joining forces at Donington Park next weekend. Gobert will use the KR3 version of the Modenas normally piloted by GP500 rookie David de Gea and, if things go to plan, could ride alongside - or, indeed, instead of - the Spaniard for the remainder of the season.

''This is a one-race deal at the moment,'' stressed team manager Chuck Aksland, ''and Anthony will be entered as a substitute for David. We'll try and get a day's testing for him before the British GP and, when that race is done, we'll think again about our plans together.''

''Things have turned out pretty well for me,'' Gobert told motograndprix.com, who is currently awaiting news of Bimota's possible return to superbike action this season. ''If things go okay at Donington, I'd like to prove to the team that it would be worth sticking me on the bike for the rest of the season, but I don't have any expectations ahead of the race. I'm fitter and better prepared than ever this year, and I hope to adapt to the bike quickly and get a good finish, but I'm going in with my eyes open.''

Italian veteran Luca Cadalora is also in line for a race ride with Team Roberts, having tested on more than occasion in recent weeks. There are no indications as to whether the outfit is prepared to field two bikes at an event, however, although it will have two versions of the KR3 available for Gobert at Donington next weekend.
