Riders DQ'd after fuel irregularities.

Although the season may be done and dusted, the FIM continues to hand out punishments arising from the final few races.

The latest victims of the governing body's regulation checks are Osamu Miyazaki and Lucio Cecchinello, who both find themselves excluded from the results of the Pacific GP at Motegi because of fuel irregularities. Miyazaki loses tenth place in the GP250 event, and Cecchinello fourth in the GP125s.

The full FIM statement reads as follows:

"Following the fuel controls carried out after the Pacific Grand Prix, held in Twin Ring Motegi on October 15 last, the fuel samples taken from the motorcycle of Japanese rider Osamu Miyazaki after the 250cc race and from Italian rider Lucio Cecchinello's motorcycle after the 125cc race were found not in accordance with Art.2.10.2 of the 2000 Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations.

Both riders requested a counter-test with the B sample, which confirmed in both cases the results of the A samples analysis.

For this reason, the Race Direction, in a hearing held today at the FIM headquarters in Mies, decided to exclude both riders from the results of the Pacific Grand Prix, according to Art. 2.10.4.2.13 of the 2000 Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations. Lucio Cecchinello finished fourth in the 125cc race, and Osamu Miyazaki tenth in the 250cc race.

No appeal was lodged. The decision of the Race Direction is final.

The results of the races and the 125cc and 250cc Championship classifications are corrected accordingly (see FIM Internet site - events/classifications/2000/road racing)."

Neither result affected the outcome of the riders' respective world championships.
