Capirossi: We can win this GP.
Despite losing out on pole to Valentino Rossi in the dying seconds of final qualifying, West Honda Pons rider Loris Capirossi believes he can claim victory in tomorrows South African Grand Prix.
"We have a chance to win this GP," stated Capirossi, as he entered the West Honda Pons team pits after qualifying. "I rode many laps in pole time and that makes us confident for our winning possibilities. As it could be seen in the qualifying, there might be three or four riders running in a group.

"We have a chance to win this GP," stated Capirossi, as he entered the West Honda Pons team pits after qualifying. "I rode many laps in pole time and that makes us confident for our winning possibilities. As it could be seen in the qualifying, there might be three or four riders running in a group.
"Maybe with the full tank we could not make such times, but it seems clear that the circuit record will be beaten," continued the Italian. "I think we are making the most of the NSR even if it is a bit inferior to those of other riders, especially in acceleration. I realised it yesterday when I could not prevent another rider overtaking me even when I was riding at the maximum power of the Honda engine. But I do not complain about it, we are satisfied with the work we are doing. Of course, I will try to win tomorrow."
