'Enthusiastic' mistake costs Abe the lead.
Antena 3 Yamaha d'Antin rider, Norick Abe, produced one of his typical lightening starts to lead the 21-bike field into turn one, but he made an 'enthusiastic' mistake just three corners later.
The Japanese rider recovered but the lead had been lost, and Abe slipped down the order before a late race charge put him into sixth at the finish.

"I think that was my best start of the year, from eighth to first!" said Abe. "Normally at the beginning of a race I seem to have some chatter problems but this time it felt all ok, so I pushed hard straight away but it was not to be. I nearly ran off the track and it let Nakano take me.
"The setting was not quite right with a full tank of fuel, because after ten laps I felt much better and I was able to start making back some ground. Then the tyres started to slide too much and I started to lose ground again. We need to make sure we have the full package in Assen."
