Capirossi: The last laps never came.

Loris Capirossi started today's race from a pole position secured with the fastest ever lap of the Assen circuit but had to work hard to stay with his rivals, and ultimately the Italian only led one lap.

"The race was difficult for me," he said. "I pushed hard to make the break but I was struggling with grip, so I decided to follow the others and then give 100 per cent over the last few laps. But they never came."
