Ukawa, Rossi injured in MotoGP practice.
Repsol Honda duo Tohru Ukawa and Valentino Rossi headed the injury list after first free practice for the MotoGP class resulted in something of a crash fest.
Whilst Rossi was able to return to the pits and contemplate qualifying this afternoon, his Japanese team-mate was taken to hospital after a spill at the Craner Curves ended with his RC211V destroying itself in a terrifying series of somersaults that somehow managed to avoid involving the South African GP winner.

Rossi was diagnosed with a broken right thumb after a high-side at Goddards, but is under observation at the track after reporting that he remembered nothing of the accident. The Italian hit both his head and right hip on the tarmac, and is being monitored for possible concussion before the qualifying session.
Shinya Nakano, Max Biaggi and Sete Gibernau all also came off during the session, with the Japanese rider suffering a heavy impact at the Old Hairpin.
Rossi was fastest of all before his crash, with Assen nemesis Alex Barros next up, just fractions of a second adrift.
