The now traditional Day of Champions, which has been a customary appetiser to the Cinzano British Grand Prix at Donington Park for the last ten years, proved to be a huge success amongst the eight thousand visitors who were invited into an open paddock for a small fee and were entertained from dawn until dusk.

Former Grand Prix racer Randy Mamola gave pillion rides, whilst stunt shows, quizzes and all-star scooter races were topped off by a huge auction. MotoGP riders past and present were on hand to make their donations, which included shirts, boots, gloves, helmets and leathers. The highest price paid for a single object was ?6,600, which paid for the original leathers of legendary World Champion Wayne Rainey. Second on the list were the leathers of Max Biaggi, which fetched no fewer than ?5,800.

'We are delighted that our tenth anniversary was such a great success,? said events manager Jeannette Wragg. 'We cannot thank our volunteers enough for their dedication and incredibly hard work that makes Day of Champions a great success. See you all next year!?
