Abe: Next thing I knew I was over the bars...
A notable absentee from today's final qualifying session at Phillip Island was M1 new boy Norick Abe, who fell heavily from his sole four stroke in the morning practice session.
"I tried to follow another four-stroke rider during the morning practice, to help me learn the lines and the rhythm of riding an M1, but then as I entered turn one I think I may have been a little rougher on the down-change than I should have been, combined with the cold tyres, the next thing I knew I was being highsided over the 'bars," explained a sore Norick afterwards.

"I'm feeling a lot of pain in my left hand and right shoulder at the moment, and I needed a medical check to make sure nothing was broken, so that's why I missed the second qualifying session," he added.
Abe's time from yesterday was quick enough to qualify for tomorrow's Grand Prix, but the Japanese will undergo a medical in the morning before deciding whether he is fit to race.
