Chaz joins ex-McWilliams team in 250s.

Brit Chaz Davies will become one of the youngest-ever competitors in the 250cc World Championship, following the announcement that the 15-year-old has signed for the Aprilia Germany team.

The step-up to the quarter litre class confirms the remarkable progress made by the Herefordshire-based rider, who became the youngest-ever grand prix entrant in 2002 [in the 125cc class] having previously been the youngest-ever winner of a British Championship race the year before.

Davies, who has not ridden a 250cc machine before, is looking forward to his second season of grand prix racing and the challenge of the bigger machine.

"I'm delighted to be riding with an experienced team, with a proven track record and one looking to help me as much as possible," beamed Chaz. "Now my plans are in place I just want to get on with the job and make the most of this opportunity."

The Aprilia Germany Team have experienced British success before, having won the Dutch TT, at Assen, with Jeremy McWilliams in 2001.

Davies rode an underpowered privateer CWF-Matteoni Racing Aprilia this year.
