Camier: Dad's taken out a second mortgage.

Former British Champion Leon Camier can thank his Dad for the chance to start his grand prix career in 2003.

Former racer Dave has taken out a second mortgage on his home to finance the deal, and Leon is determined to repay him with some strong results on his 125cc Racing Service Honda.

Former racer Dave has taken out a second mortgage on his home to finance the deal, and Leon is determined to repay him with some strong results on his 125cc Racing Service Honda.

"It's been tough raising the money to compete and Dad has had to take out a second mortgage on the house - now it's up to me to thank him with some good rides," explained Leon. "I'm sure I can do well but we know it will be hard against the works machines. We have just got a new engine in time for the start of the season.

"I'm sure British riders are as good as the others but we just need the opportunities to ride at the highest level," added Camier.

First qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix takes place this Friday.
