Assen changes two corners for 2005.
TT Circuit Assen has been the scene of hard work over the past few months for the completion of the 'floating' Geert Timmer grandstand, and has now announced that two corners of the legendary race track have also been changed for the 2005 season.
The corners in question are 'De Bult' and 'Ruskenhoek'(see map - click to enlarge). De Bult (middle pic) has been modified in order to reduce speed and increase run-off on the outside of the corner, while Ruskenhoek (lower pic) was changed to take into account a 'short-cut' to be added in September 2005.

The 'short cut' will enable the track to continue to operate in two parts after work begins on the shortening of the north loop - due to start one week after the 2005 Assen World Superbike round - which will change the circuit forever and reduce its length from 5,997 to 4,720 metres.
Both corner modifications, which will slow speeds but create more potential overtaking areas, were originally planned for 2006 but have been brought forward for organisational reasons. The total track length has been reduced by 30-metres over its 2004 distance as a result.
