Byrne: It's a difficult situation.

Former British Superbike Champion Shane 'Shakey' Byrne will return to MotoGP action this weekend in France.

The Kent rider was forced to miss the last race in China because of problems with engine parts for his KTM powered Proton KR machine.

The Oxfordshire-based team were due to test a new engine, with Byrne and possibly Jeremy McWilliams, at Jerez last week but did not make the trip. However, they will - as previously reported - be at Le Mans for the fourth round of the championship, with an updated version of KTM's V4.

Former British Superbike Champion Shane 'Shakey' Byrne will return to MotoGP action this weekend in France.

The Kent rider was forced to miss the last race in China because of problems with engine parts for his KTM powered Proton KR machine.

The Oxfordshire-based team were due to test a new engine, with Byrne and possibly Jeremy McWilliams, at Jerez last week but did not make the trip. However, they will - as previously reported - be at Le Mans for the fourth round of the championship, with an updated version of KTM's V4.

"Unfortunately the proposed test in Jerez was cancelled but we will be in Le Mans with some new parts on the bike," confirmed Byrne. "It's a difficult situation but I've just got to get on with it.

"I practiced at Le Mans last year but did not race because of an injured wrist but at least I know which way the track goes!" he added. "I passed my helicopter pilot's license this weekend so I've had something to keep me busy..."
