Byrne on Camel Honda standby.
Former British Superbike Champion Shane 'Shakey' Byrne is on standby to again replace the injured Troy Bayliss in the Camel Honda team in Valencia.
Byrne impressed the team when he rode for them in the Malaysian and Qatar Grands Prix, but was himself replaced by Chris Vermeulen in Australia and Turkey. Vermeulen is unable to ride for the Pons team at Valencia after signing for Suzuki last week.

Bayliss, who has been absent since mid-September after sustaining a badly broken wrist in a Motocross accident, is hoping to return for his MotoGP farewell this weekend - the Australian having already signed to ride for Ducati in World Superbike next season.
However, the Camel Honda team contacted Byrne last week about riding alongside Alex Barros - indicating that Bayliss may not be fit - but the team had still not confirmed the ride by yesterday (Monday) afternoon.
