Foggy: Edwards has lost his hunger to win.

Four-times World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty believes that former rival Colin Edwards, a double World Superbike champion and Valentino Rossi's current team-mate at the factory Yamaha MotoGP team, has lost the hunger to win.

"Edwards was the one person, when he went to MotoGP, that I looked at and thought 'c'mon Colin'," Foggy told Crash.net. "Because he was basically the closest guy to me when I was in Superbikes, but I think he has...

You know; he's comfortable, he's on easy street, he's a multi-millionaire, he's 30-something now and I question whether the hunger is there from him to go out and win.

"I don't think it is - I know he won't admit that.

"I think Colin would have been better off going to MotoGP, if he had not won a World Superbike title, two or three years earlier. But obviously that wasn't possible for him.

"I just feel that it's difficult for riders, when they're in their early 30s and are extremely wealthy anyway, to find the motivation to beat a 26-year-old, in the shape of Rossi," Carl explained.

During his three seasons in MotoGP - with Aprilia, Telefonica Honda and Gauloises Yamaha respectively - Edwards has taken five podium finishes, with a best race finish of second (three times). The Texan will remain at Yamaha next season.

Foggy is currently running a competition, with a selection of racing related prizes - including a PETRONAS FP1 road bike - on offer. Visit www.nokiaFPR.com to take part.
