The Italian's usual sun and moon design has been replaced by a comic book type layout, featuring some of The Doctor's favourite characters.

"My new helmet design is by a famous Italian cartoonist called Milo Manara," explained Valentino. "He has drawn a kind of mythical story of my life, with some of my heroes like Steve McQueen, Enzo Ferrari and Jim Morrison, with other characters like my dog Guido, Osvaldo the chicken and lots of beautiful women! Rossi took the new helmet to his first front row start of the season after finishing third, behind Ducati team-mate's Sete Gibernau and Loris Capirossi, in Saturday's qualifying session.
