Rizla Suzuki MotoGP star Chris Vermeulen made his Goodwood Festival of Speed debut last weekend, riding Barry Sheene's 1975 Suzuki XR-14 over the famous hill-climb course.
"I'm having a really good time, it's a great event with all the famous drivers, riders and celebrities - and the red arrows are out there flying as well," Chris told Crash.net during the weekend.

"I'm riding Barry Sheene's bike and it's a privilege to do that. Barry was one of my biggest heroes and I'm sure a hero for a lot of the crowd here, so to ride the bike up the hill - and the support I get - is incredible. Barry had a lot to do with my career in the early days and so it's a great experience to be able to ride his bike."
"I didn't have any idea how big this event is," admitted the Australian. "There are so many people here. Everybody is a fan and the event is just great - I'm blown away by it.
"It's a lot more relaxed for us riders and drivers then a race weekend and we can spend a lot more time with the crowd. It's great event, a very good idea and I'll be happy to come back again," concluded the 2005 World Superbike runner-up.
Vermeulen was one of three current MotoGP riders in action at Goodwood - James Ellison and Casey Stoner being the other two - with Stoner, who rode his Honda RCV, equally impressed.
"Honestly, the Goodwood Festival of Speed in one of the most spectacular events I have ever attended," grinned the 20-year-old. "It was amazing to meet so many champions in just two days! I had fun with friends Troy Corser, Troy Bayliss and Randy Mamola but also had the chance to meet some of the best riders and drivers from the past, including Jim Redman, Luigi Taveri, Jackie Stewart and John Surtees."
The Festival of Speed attracts over 150,000 spectators each year.
