Marquez leads Dovizioso and Petrucci in warm-up
The temperatures may have been a good deal higher in MotoGP morning warm-up than this evening's race, but the weekend’s leading names were all represented in the top three places as Marc Marquez led Italian duo Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci in Qatar.
The reigning world champion secured a front row starting place, behind Johann Zarco, on Saturday, but pointed to the superior pace of the Ducati duo later that evening. Here, he showed in the afternoon heat that he will certainly be in the running for the ultimate honours later this evening.

The top four were close, with Dani Pedrosa in fourth place just 0.182s slower than his Repsol Honda team-mate. Andrea Iannone was the first of the Suzukis and a tenth back in fifth.
Pole man Zarco was sixth fastest (+0.411s), a place ahead of Yamaha colleague Valentino Rossi (seventh). Cal Crutchlow was eighth despite losing the front end of his LCR Honda at turn one, a fate shared by Alex Rins.
The Aprilia of Aleix Espargaro was ninth, ahead of Rins (tenth), Jack Miller (eleventh), Tito Rabat (twelfth) and the impressive Thomas Luthi (13th).
Jorge Lorenzo was some way off the potential he showed in yesterday’s in FP4 with the 15th fastest time, as was Maverick Viñales in 18th. Even still, the second Movistar Yamaha man was just 1.071s from Marquez’s time.
