Repsol Honda has confirmed that Dani Pedrosa underwent surgery for a wrist fracture in Barcelona today (Tuesday).

However the team is still to announce whether or not the Spaniard will miss next weekend's MotoGP event at COTA:

'Dani will undergo an evaluation of his progress in 48 hours. If the results are positive, he will be able to begin his rehabilitation on Saturday.

'His participation in the Austin GP will be decided consequently.'

Surgery took place after a 3D CT scan revealed Pedrosa had suffered 'an intra-articular fracture of the right distal radius'.

The injury occurred after the #26 was forced off the dry line by a passing manoeuvre from Johann Zarco, on the opening lap of Sunday's Argentina MotoGP race - the Spaniard being launched into a highside as he opened the throttle.

A titanium screw was used to fix the fracture.

Repsol Honda will release more information on Pedrosa’s progress as it becomes available.
