KTM confirms Loris Baz for British MotoGP

KTM has officially confirmed that, as rumoured, Loris Baz will return to MotoGP action at Silverstone this weekend in place of the injured Pol Espargaro.

Espargaro is still recovering from practice injuries at Brno, most notably inflammation of his spinal cord, forcing him out of the British Grand Prix.

While no substitute was needed for the previous Austrian event, MotoGP rules state a team 'must make every reasonable effort' to provide a substitute rider within 10 days.

But with factory test rider Mika Kallio also injured, and Jonas Folger turning down the chance to return, KTM has now turned to Baz, a MotoGP rider form 2015-2017 with a best race result of fourth.

Baz, 25, is a former World Superbike race winner at Silverstone. The Frenchman is currently twelfth in the WorldSBK standings for the Gulf Althea BMW team, with a best race finish of seventh.
