Soft front option backfired for Miller

Aussie Jack Miller was left disappointed after opting for the soft front option tyre during his final stints in FP2 in Thailand on Friday.

The Alma Pramac Ducati rider said the soft Michelin did not give him the grip he needed and he was forced to save the Ducati on his right elbow following a few ‘moments’.

Miller, who ended the first day at the Chang International Circuit in 11th place on the time sheets, said: “Not bad, I was disappointed with this afternoon and I expected more from the soft at the end. I put the soft in the front because we have done that for the GPs in qualifying and it seems to be working, but here it didn’t work.

“I had a lot of collapse, a lot of movement and I had to save the front four or five times on my elbow. It’s more braking here than anything and even in the flowing points it doesn’t help much, so we’ve learned that now and tomorrow we will put the medium in and I have no drama about improving the tyre – I’m confident we can do it.

“We did the lap time with a few ‘moments’ so we have a little bit up our sleeve for tomorrow.”
