Vinales: We’ve found consistency, now we must prove it
Maverick Vinales feels his improved consistency has come from “a little bit of everything” adapting with his Monster Yamaha squad but accepts he must produce a strong performance at the German MotoGP to finish the job.
Fresh from his Assen victory, Vinales has secured a front row start in qualifying at Sachsenring – his third consecutive front row result in qualifying – having been confident of a breakthrough made at Mugello last month.

Fresh from his Assen victory, Vinales has secured a front row start in qualifying at Sachsenring – his third consecutive front row result in qualifying – having been confident of a breakthrough made at Mugello last month.
After demonstrating his speed at three different circuits, Vinales puts his improvements down to finding consistency with tweaks to both his mentality and bike setups and hopes to continue his resurgence after showing impressive FP4 pace in Germany before qualifying.
“I think it is a consequence of a little bit of everything,” Vinales said. “You don’t ride alone, you are a team. I think we changed the mentality inside the team, changed the geometry of the bike so I rode the bike and I can ride in my own way, braking quite deep and hard.
“I felt much better and I feel much more comfortable for every lap. I feel really good for the race setup. Somehow we found the consistency at different tracks with and without grip.
“We’ve done a step and tomorrow it is important for us to prove that we’ve done a step and to keep going forward in that direction.”
Vinales feels the key to his German MotoGP will come down to his tyre choice after feeling quick with both the soft and medium rears during FP4 and expects the tyre pick to be decided by track temperatures ahead of the race.
“I was feeling great in FP4 and great in qualifying so tomorrow it is very important and crucial on the tyre decision,” he said. “We have two tyres that worked good but it is very important tomorrow morning to see the weather and the temperature then we will decide in the last moment.”
