Mugello, KymiRing join provisional 2022 MotoE calendar
The provisional calendar for the 2022 MotoE World Cup, the fourth season of the electric bike class and last to feature Energica machines, has been announced.
The season will consist of seven rounds, one more than in 2021, again all in support of the MotoGP World Championship. But for 2022, all MotoE events will be double headers, meaning a total of 14 races compared to just 7 last year.
Events at Jerez, Le Mans, Assen, Red Bull Ring and Misano are all set to remain on the calendar, with only Catalunya dropped from the 2021 line-up.
Those five events will be joined by MotoE's debut at Mugello - featuring a battery-testing fastest straight on the world championship calendar - and Finland's KymiRing, hosting its first MotoGP in 2022.
That means all MotoE rounds are again set to take place inside Europe, although Indonesia's new Mandilika circuit (joining the MotoGP calendar next season) has expressed an interest in hosting the class.
Prior to the start of the 2022 season, a pair of official three-day tests will be held at Jerez on March 7-9 and April 11-13.
Jordi Torres was crowned as last year's MotoE champion after rival Dominique Aegerter was penalised for a last-lap clash between the pair at the Misano decider.
Ducati will take over from Energica as the new MotoE manufacturer in 2023.
