Crash.net MotoGP podcast with Keith Huewen: Bastianini dazzles, favourites fade
This week's Crash.net MotoGP podcast featuring Keith Huewen sees the former British champion once again join Crash.net MotoGP editor Pete McLaren and host Harry Benjamin to discuss all the fallout from a dramatic season-opening Qatar Grand Prix.
Enea Bastianini's brilliant victory serves as the starting point before Huewen dives into the likes of Yamaha, Francesco Bagnaia's crash, the new Honda in the hands of Pol Espargaro and Marc Marquez, Brad Binder's shock KTM podium, Jack Miller's electronic misery, the fortunes of Aprilia and Suzuki, the five rookies and more.
The Moto2 and Moto3 classes, won by Celestino Vietti and Andrea Migno respectively, are also on the agenda. Sam Lowes braved the pain of tendonitis to take advantage of some last turn contact and snatch the final place on the Moto2 podium, while Migno's first victory since 2017 came after drama for long-time leader Ayumu Sasaki.
Meanwhile, three Moto3 pre-race favourites – pole qualifier Izan Guevara, title runner-up Dennis Foggia and Leopard team-mate Tatsuki Suzuki - were all hit with back-of-the-grid starts and long laps for irresponsible behaviour in qualifying.
