Sepang MotoGP test times - Wednesday (Final)

The third and final day of the official MotoGP test of 2016 took place at Sepang in Malaysia on Wednesday.

Reigning world champion Jorge Lorenzo finished the test as he had started it; on top of the timesheets by (almost) one-second - and smashing the two-minute barrier in the process.

In-between, Pramac Ducati's Danilo Petrucci set the day two pace, before Loris Baz's huge accident saw the soft rear tyre withdrawn from the rest of the test.

Retired double world champion Casey Stoner, who rode alongside the MotoGP race riders for the first time since 2012 yesterday, was also back on track today.

The Australian was typically straight up to speed, jumping into second place on his fourth lap! That remained Stoner's best time until he improved on his 30th and final lap. He finished fifth on the timesheets - as the top Ducati rider.

Testing took place between 10am and 6pm, although a damp track kept riders in the pits until midday. A rain shower then sent them back to their garages at 2pm, but the sunshine returned and bikes were back out from 4pm onwards, culminating in a flurry of fast lap times at the end of the day.

The second of the three official pre-season tests will be held at Phillip Island, Australia, from February 17-19. Ducati say that Stoner will not ride at his home test.

Sepang will now be resurfaced, meaning this week's data is only of limited use in terms of October's race ...
