MotoGP Japan - Free Practice (2) Results

Pedrosa fastest during a damp Free Practice 2 for the Japanese MotoGP, light rain arriving after a dry morning session at Motegi.

The fastest FP2 times were set by those that made a change from wet to slick tyres in the final minutes. However the FP1 laps remained the best of the day, with Pedrosa outside the top ten.

Dovizioso stayed quickest overall, despite the Italian and world championship leader Marquez being among those not to set a time in FP2.

Jorge Lorenzo had made a brief return to action in FP1, but struggled with the wrist injury from Thailand and has withdrawn from the rest of the weekend.

Marquez currently has a 77-point lead over Dovizioso and 99-point lead over Rossi. If the Honda rider has a championship lead of at least 75-points after Sunday's race, he will claim his fifth MotoGP title with three rounds still to go.

Sylvain Guintoli and Katsuyuki Nakasuga are making their latest wild-card appearances for Suzuki and Yamaha respectively.

Tito Rabat is still recovering from leg fractures at Silverstone and again replaced by WorldSBK rider Jordi Torres. Torres has the GP16 machines of Simeon, who is on Rabat's GP17s.
