Petrucci wins a wet and wild French Grand Prix at Le Mans. ahead of rookie Alex Marquez and KTM's Espargaro.

The race was delayed due to the arrival of rain a few minutes before the start.

The start saw Rossi fall at the first chicane, holding up Mir and Vinales, while the Ducatis of Petrucci, Dovizioso and Miller dominated the opening half of the race.

Rins carved through the field to catch the Ducatis, with Pol Espargaro and Marquez looking to do the same.

When Rins began to battle with Miller the pair missed their braking point and split the lead pack. Worse followed for the Australian when he suffered an engine failure, while Rins fell at the first chicane.

Petrucci used the chaos behind to build a small lead while team-mate Dovizioso struggled for rear grip and lost out to Marquez, who had a brilliant ride to take Honda's first podium of the season in his first wet MotoGP race, and Espargaro.

Pole starter Quartararo held on to the championship lead despite managing only ninth place, on a day when all the Yamahas struggled.

HRC test rider Bradl was again replacing injured reigning world champion Marc Marquez.

The first of the back-to-back Aragon rounds takes place next weekend.
