2021 Italian MotoGP, Mugello - Qualifying (1) Results
A controversial tow helps Marc Marquez lead Qualifying 1 for the Italian MotoGP and advance - alongside Aleix Espargaro - to the Q2 pole position shootout.
Marquez was one of a number of riders to follow Vinales out of the pits for the final run, but the Repsol Honda rider also stuck to the Yamaha like a magnet when he pulled back into pit lane to try and shake-off the caravan behind.
With time running out Vinales had no choice but to push and duly towed Marquez to the top on his penultimate lap. Vinales was later pushed from second to third by Espargaro, but the Monster Yamaha rider was on course to regain a top-two place on his last lap, until he ran wide at the final corner and will now start 13th.
