Irwin killed at NHIR.
NASCAR star Kenny Irwin today became the second driver to be killed at the New Hampshire International Raceway in a matter of months.
The Team SABCO driver came to grief at almost the same spot between turns three and four that claimed the life of Adam Petty back in May and, having been extricated from his upturned car, was later pronounced dead from multiple injuries sustained in the crash. He had been attempting to qualify for Sunday's thatlook.com 300.

Irwin made his Winston Cup debut alongside Dale Jarrett at Robert Yates Racing in 1997, and continued alongside the current champion for a further two seasons, before moving over to Team SABCO for 2000. It was at the wheel of the BellSouth Chevrolet that today's accident happened although, as yet, no explanation for the crash has been given.
Team SABCO has withdrawn from the meeting as a mark of respect to its driver.
